Shopping in the center of Phuket town will be a hard work if you intend to go there by your own (rental) car. There are no public park houses available. To find a parking space depends on good luck. Using the airport bus and going until Bus Terminal in the rear of Phangnga Road would be the best solution if going the first time there. |

Another solution is - if using your own car - to visit the shops and department stores in the west of old Phuket town, conveniently situated at both sides of H 402 (Bypass Road). They offer lots of parkings for free. |

The new Central Festival Plaza offers the a multi-storey car park in Phuket, not (yet) fully air-conditioned, but shady and for free. Another benefit you will get for free is music. All department stores feature a main music to be broadcasted all over the building. The particular shops and restaurants inside the main building feature their own music. So you are lucky to be entertained by two or three or four pieces of music at the same time. The number depends on your actual position. Don't complain: It's for free! |
Hungry and thirsty after shopping and music adventure? A nice lunch wanted? Our favorite restaurant in this area is Thai Naan Restaurant at intersection 402 / 4020. They offer parkings for free and a great buffet with Thai, Japanese and Chinese specialties in a cozy atmosphere. You have the choice to be seated in an open shady wooden lobby or in an air-conditioned room. Prices are reasonable. |
Phuket Zoo is not far away and walking around in a non-air-conditioned climate could be a good idea after shopping and lunch. Have a look to the presentation of local animals as there are birds, snakes, insects, fish, ... |

They offer daily shows of elephants, monkeys and crocodiles. Watching elephants and monkeys working like a circus artist is surely a fun, especially for children. But to see how young men work with crocodiles - even putting their heads into crocodile's |

At Phuket Aquarium other dangerous creatures together with peaceful ones of course may be seen. It has been reopened in 2005 after renovation. |

One of the most attractive architecture elements is a tunnel of glass passing a big water tank like a tunnel passes a mountain. But different to a dark road tunnel this tunnel opens the view into the fantastic environment of local sea's population. Admire sharks, rays, turtles, colored fish and unterwater plants. How to get there? After leaving the zoo take H 4021 direction Phuket Town. Proceed until intersection with H 4023, turn sharply right. Follow H 4023, later on H 4129 until the aquarium (driving time 30 - 40 min). Keep in mind that you will need about 2 hours for returning home to ECO Guesthouse. |

Don't want to return home hungry? Here's the help: After having passed Phuket Town northbound after one hour have a break. Make an U-turn on H 402, go back direction Phuket Town until intersection to Laem Hin Port. Follow the road until its end (~ 5 km). Take a boat there and have a transfer (10 min) to a floating restaurant. Don't care about the darkness. The boatman knows the way. You may trust in him. The short passage and seafood dinner are worth your time and your money. One of our guests said afterwards: "The most impressive excursion and the nicest dinner of my stay in Phuket." |
